Over the next few months, we will be highlighting each of our firm’s team members. Our first feature focuses on our Office Manager and legal assistant to Michael Mayo, Sherrie Treen.
Sherrie has been with Mayo | Hill since we opened our doors on January 3, 2018. As the firm’s Office Manager, she is responsible for handling all tasks related to firm management – including bookkeeping, payroll, human resources tasks, and more. As his legal assistant, Sherrie aids Michael Mayo and assists with setting up new files, obtaining medical records and bills, preparing demands, and answering discovery, among other duties. She also schedules appointments and depositions and corresponds with clients directly.
Sherrie’s work at Mayo | Hill has been an integral part of the firm’s success, no doubt in part to her nearly 35 years of experience as a legal assistant. Sherrie has worked as Michael Mayo’s legal assistant, both with his previous employer and now at Mayo | Hill, for almost a decade. In addition to her work as a legal assistant, she also served as a deputy clerk in the United States Bankruptcy Court. In 2015, she obtained her paralegal certificate from the University of Georgia.
Michael Mayo had this to say about working with Sherrie: “Sherrie is a vital part of our firm. She keeps the firm humming, constantly monitors important issues, and puts out fires when they arise. I couldn’t begin to describe the effect she’s had on my career. As a young lawyer, she educated me on more than just the law. She believed in me and supported me. I’m eternally indebted to her. There’s no doubt neither this firm nor myself, personally, would have achieved this level of success without Sherrie Treen. She’s one my best friends. Please don’t tell her I said any of this.”
When she’s not hard at work at the firm, the Macon native enjoys spending time with her family, particularly her three grandchildren. Sherrie is kind, dedicated, and loyal – a friendly face and listening ear to both the team at Mayo | Hill and our clients. She has stated before that her favorite part of her job is the team atmosphere at the firm. Also, Sherrie recently stated, “I could not be prouder to work at Mayo | Hill. I am in awe of how hard these guys work for their clients and the amazing firm they have built in three short years.”
